March 2006

clapotis is finished!

Website_4I really like the result a lot: very luxurious and beautiful  but the production was boring, boring, boring. It looked like the clapotis would never end: like knitting a blanket.

And what's the hystery about dropping the stitches? Dhu.....

gift

Website_2My husband gave me this beautiful old  needle-case.

Isn't he a darling ?

the never ending story of the clapotis

Website_1 A quick update: I have almost finished section 3, the straight rows: one more repeat to go.

I am worried about the amount of yarn: you can see the last skein of a total of six: Will that be enough?  little hedgehog used 5 1/2 skeins, but ecritures used up 6 1/2 skeins! How can that be?

sucker!

Clapotis_2_1 What a sucker I am: I thought that K tbl (knit into back of the loop) ment that I had to knit in the stitch of the last row. Thanks to Harvestmoon and Marjan I now understand that it's just knitting in the back of the loop of the present stitch. Ofcourse. What was I thinking? Anyway: I had to do it all over again.

Classics: Clapotis

Reasons why I am knitting  Clapotis (like everyone else) :

Clapotis I have seen the most beautiful Clapotisses on knitterblogs and also want one.  I imagine me on a summer evening sitting on a terrace with a glass of wine and this refined wrap around my shoulders: how sophisticated! Or like  Kate Gilbert (designer) describes it: " Je suis belle et ca ne demande aucun effort").

I also want to knit " the internet classics" : already made "Jaywalker"  and "Clapotis" is definitely one of them.

But after reading the poem about the Clapotis, everyone would knit it.

Olympic GOLD!

MedalweblargeWho would have guessed it?

Me, the queen of  all non-sporters (but having a very elastic brain to compensate): winning GOLD!

Thanks, Yarnharlot for this achievement.
