I was going to knit this , so I bought the yarn that was suggested by the designer. Well it cost you some, but than you have some quality. NOT!!!
It is the most expensive, NOT SOFT yarn I have ever knitted with. It is so hard that it gave me blisters on my fingers. Really and it costed me a fortune! So, ofcourse I frogged it and now I have lost to much money to buy new yarn. Goodbye Eiffel. See you next year! NOT!!!!
So here is a peep of what lies ahead:
This is Opal yarn: soft for your hands (hear the violinmusic) so thumbs up for this one:
but: who can tell what it is? Yes a mitten inside out: duh!! i mean which pattern?
Who of you knitting lassies recognices it ?
Yarn: opal
Motif from folk mittens by Marcia Lewandowski (Faeroe Island mittens)
According to the book the motif was "originally knit into men's formal vests, usually felted and brushed and worn on Sundays and special celebrations"
Today I celebrate that I have finished them.
Ravel: eat your heart out: this is what we call a bolero!

the back
I am always suprised by the way the noro-colours turn out: I have used a lot of different sorts and they have one thing in common: the bright colour combination.
Now I am still working on these:
And this will be my next project from the latest Knitty: ![]()
"It's coming on Christmas
They're cutting down trees
They're putting up reindeer
And singing songs of joy and peace"
Joni Mitchell
I consider myself as a broad-minded-progressive-kind of girl. But when it comes to Christmas I am the most conservative of the block: the tree is decorated with red stuff and on the menu we have good old turkey. I listen to Bing Crosby and have to cry when I see James Stewart at the end of "it's a wonderfull life".When he runs home and there his wife stands in the hallway! With the little baby on her arm! And they are so happy! And I am crying like there is no tomorrow! I love christmas!
Look what I have got:
a pincushion (in colors I adore!)
a circular needle for socks
markers with cute little yarn and needles
handmade and felted buttons
cool aid for dying my handspun yarn.
a pattern for a shawl (not shown on picture)
I have made socks for my 10-year old out of the Opal Zebra yarn.
Thanks dear spoiler!
Today I recieved my package : lovely Opal sock yarn. While knitting there will apear knittingpresents. Can't wait to start. But first I will have to finish my Noro-bolero.
Reaction of the home-front: is it practical to wear socks with a present on the heel? (how pityfull is that?)
the package
here is something...
and another something..
needles!?
and a pattern!
