new!! new !!

New design:

My nephew Tim is a graphic designer. He made this new design of my blog. I am very happy with it. If you want a new design for  your blog, look over here (molotiv graphic design) Tim has founded this bussiness with his friend  after his study: I think it shows great courage to start one at such early age. Good job, Tim and Frank: thanks again!

New technique:

Just as a new dress needs a new pair of shoes, so does my new blog needs a new craft. My sister (mother of Tim) is the quilt-maniac of the family. She is the absolute master and I am nothing more than a humble pupil.

First I started experimenting:

Than I decided against it. I bought new fabric, paper hexagons and just started wrapping the fabric around the paper:

That black and yellow thing is professional equipment: it is a sort of pizza-slicer that cuts through the fabric as if it were butter.

Now I am in dubio, which version do you like best"?:

variation 1 :

just hussle the hexagons and let the variation of fabric do his work:

or: variation 2 (grandmother's flower garden)

every flower a different motif. In the middle imagine a dark brown hexagon and between the flowers an off-white one.

graduation flag

Flag

My oldest son has made it through the vwo (highschool) : of course we are very, very proud of him. It did not came easy for him. In the Netherlands it is a custom to put out the flag with the schoolbag of the graduate. Now there are thousands of flags hanging in front of the houses. These are happy times!

He is going to the university in Utrecht to study film&theatre-science (yes, that is an excisting science) . It is very hard to find a  student's room over there.  So: knitters of Utrecht: if you know a place / room for this pretty and smart boy, please let me know.

The story of the Irish wannabe

                          Lychen

I am the Irish wannabe.

I want to be an outdoor kinda girl, but I hate all sports.

I want to sing Irish songs, but I can't sing (instead I comfort myself by listening  to Van Morrison)

I want to have red curly hair, but it is dark and straight.

I want to have those red healthy cheeks, but mine are pale and flat.

I want to knit cabels, but I didn't.

This is the story of the Irish wannabe:

The Rowan-cardigan  looked so comfi and the cables would  be perfect for an Irish wannabe. So I started: 5 cm moss-stitch. So far so good. But then the cables came: it turned out that there was absolutely no repeating pattern: only totaly chaos in the chart. It took me 10 minutes to knit one row. So I ripped it, frogged it and started over, but  with a much more easier motif:

Wannabe cables!
