designing (not)
Although I am not a huge fan of Escher, I must admit it is intriging stuff. Especially the drawings where the foreground is as much important as the background.
For example this one:

ore this one:

I thought: that must work for socks as well. So I designed some motives with the idea: foreground/ background: equally important.
Starting with these meanders:

The last one could work: but it had to be a repeating motif of 6 stitches:

The most left motif had that repeat.
But then in the very depth of my mind I recognized the motif: I had definately seen this one before. So I started looking and finaly I found this picture at my flickr favourites. Not completely the same: it's better.
So why bother?
This is the motif I am knitting. Designed by Anna Zilboorg. It can be found in this book

Ja, soms is iets wat je graag wilt ontwerpen al uitgevonden door een ander!

I love this play of colors. does it make you dizzy knitting it, or is it easy pattern to memorise?

@hpny knits: it is a very easy pattern to memorize. If knitting drives me crazy: I frog it!
