Today Rik turned 19. As a birthday present he can get his drivers licence. But what is a birthday without an actual present that can be opened?
Even if you are 19 you want PRESENTS and HUGS!
So I made a hug for him. To be hugged at all times.
Even when mom is not around.....;
And you know what: He was so happy and called it "VET!" (dutch for cool)
Isn' t that great: being 19 and not ashamed of liking "vet" softies.
He is my hero.

The Anna Zilboorg socks are ready; look how they sock and roll!

I had to weave in a thousands threads

They are for the big sis with tiny feet

the mouse will get company on his trip to Australia, so she stayes warm and will be comfortable on the plane.

Yep. I made a mouse.
With clothes on.
For my nearly 3 year old step-granddaughter who lives in Australia.

Although I show you 2 pictures, just 1 anna zilboorg sock is finished.

Although I am not a huge fan of Escher, I must admit it is intriging stuff. Especially the drawings where the foreground is as much important as the background.
For example this one:

ore this one:

I thought: that must work for socks as well. So I designed some motives with the idea: foreground/ background: equally important.
Starting with these meanders:

The last one could work: but it had to be a repeating motif of 6 stitches:

The most left motif had that repeat.
But then in the very depth of my mind I recognized the motif: I had definately seen this one before. So I started looking and finaly I found this picture at my flickr favourites. Not completely the same: it's better.
So why bother?
This is the motif I am knitting. Designed by Anna Zilboorg. It can be found in this book

When you are older than 12 it is very sad if you wear the same outfit as your friends. That is a law that must be respected at all times. Unless you are one of the founders of snb breda.
