Fern&Waves

Sometimes you see a beautiful knitting on the internet which has your name all over it:

THIS IS MINE! IT IS DESIGNED FOR ME:  MUST KNIT IT. NOW!

Fernwaves

Fern&waves

You buy a yarn that is soft and has gorgeous colours that fits the name of the design as if it has made just for it:

Skein_malabrigo

Then you start to knit and at the end of the evening you look at the result and suddenly you realise that there is nothing wrong with the pattern and certainly nothing wrong with the yarn (soft as a baby's bottom) but the marriage of the two will end up in a divorce. Where did the ferns go? The colors and the motif are too much. They kill eachother.

And you are the child left in the middle. They have to break up. As sad as it is.

But do not dispare, my little one, because one parrent has found a new partner:

soft, great colour, size xxl but I think the combo is up for a longterm relationship.

berlin is falling apart

After finishing the second berlin muster sock of SKP 2008, I discovered a loose stitch in the first sock:

Skp_2_loop1

See? Frogging the whole sock was obviously not an option. So I took a needle:

Skp_2_loop2

pulled a thread through the stitch..

Skp_2_loop3

waved in both ends. And voila....

Skp2_fo2

Finished!

Knitting the second pair of the SKP 2008 has not been easy. The chart was not correct. I hate that. Checking out the hundreds of e-mails on this subject just made it worse: everyone gave directions and others corrected them. So out of this chaos of e-mails and different charts, I made a chart that looks like a correct one.

Cast on 64 stitches.

There is a repeat of 3 untill the heel.

Then another 3 repeats before the toe.

That's it.

crochet slipper

Crochet_slipper

Remember I started to crochet a pair of slippers? Well, one is finished. The other one has to wait because first I am knitting the second pair of SKP 2008.

Yesterday I went to the beach. This is what happens if you put half of your feet in the sand and only use sunprotection for your legs and not your feet:

I should have worn socks.

new baby!

Baby_cap_blog

Next door there will be a baby born any day now. Because the mother is from South-America, the baby will be semi-South-American. So is the babycap.
