Cold feet, bright slippers.

Turoral:

knit with sockyarn on 2 1/2 mm 4 dpn needles

1. cast on 62 stitches with orange yarn. Knit the even rows and purl the oneven rows till a total length of 14 cm.

2. continue knitting in the round:

row 1: 1 white, 1 orange. Repeat the whole row.

row 2 and 3: knit with white yarn

row 4: 1 white, 1 pink. Repeat the whole row.

3. continue with the pink yarn

4. when you reached the toes and knit the toes the same way as in socks, but decrease until you have 6 stitches left. Pull a thread through the remained stitches. Pull. Weave the loose end in.

 

5. close the heel:

n.b. The seam is on the outside, for more wearing-comfort.

6. To form the heel: stitch the bottom about 1 1/2 cm on the heelseam (so there appears a triangle) : look at the photo so you know what I mean:

7. At last: knit the cuff: a total of 64 stitches.

1 knit, 1 purl. Repeat 10 rows.

He looks cute, I know, but yesterday he got lost in the woods. Took us 3 hours to find him. He smelled like he had been rolling in cowshit. which he most likely had.

Remember I made this and this for my sons? Now friends of Rik also want one. Last month Jordi had his birthday: he is a hunk who likes to work out. So this one was ordered and Jordi was very happy. Let me remind you that Rik's friends are all about 20 years of age: it's a worry!

next week another friend is turning 20: so..another order waiting.

Did I miss the kids? After a romatic weekend with vino tinto, paela, sauna, getting drunk together on a terrace in a beautiful meditaranean city, sleeping in, forgetting track of time? What do you think: no way hose.

I am mad as hell !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(sorry for the english readers, this is impossible to translate. "boezemvriendin"means "best friend". "boezem" means "breasts" Yea, dutch is an odd language. )
Yesterday I got this card from my sister because it is breastcancer awarness month. As you probably all know.
Six years ago I discovered a "pea" in my leftbreast. After breastcancer was diagnosed, I urged my sister to take a mamograph, just in case.... well it turned out she had breastcancer too. So we had chemo's, radiation, the whole lot at the same time. Now we are both fine. Thanks to my self examination the cancer was diagnosed in an early stage. And now (and this pisses me off) breastcancer organisations have declared that it is no longer neccesary to do a monthly self-examination!!! Most of the time it is a false alarm and it seemes that there is no bigger amount of diagnoses of cancer at women who do self-examination and those who don't. But what about all those diagnoses who were right ? (like mine for example) They will get lost if women stop self-diagnosing themselves! I don't care if it saves the medical industry a lot of money due to the false alarms. So that is why I am mad as hell. And that is an understatement, my dear boezemvriendin.
So this advice is my contribution for this month of breastcancerawarness:
Examin your boobs every month. It can save your life, it sure did mine.
